During the Pixel 10 launch event, Google executives stated in an interview that smart glasses and foldable devices are two new areas they are optimistic about. Google is developing the Android XR platform to support the development of XR terminals and testing micro displays, which may lay the foundation for future self owned glasses. Rick Osterloh, Google's head of hardware, said that the glasses category is "worth breaking through again," but phones will still exist for the long term.

Mengtong Intelligent was founded in 2022, focusing on independent research and development of AI+AR glasses and "Space AIOS System". The core team comes from Jinli OPPO、VIVO、 Alibaba, MTK and other companies. Founder Zhang Maolei believes that the AR/AI eyewear industry is still in the "L2 stage" and is still far from the true "iPhone moment".

This innovation solves the problems of large size and high energy consumption of traditional laser displays through photonic integrated circuits. HTC recently launched the AI glasses Vive Eagle, which supports Chinese voice control and integrates with Google Gemini and OpenAI GPT. Market rumors suggest that Google's first AI glasses may be manufactured by HTC, although the prototype was completed by Guangda. HTC emphasizes 100% Taiwan manufacturing, and if awarded the contract, it will benefit production capacity utilization. Data shows that global smart glasses shipments will increase by 210% year-on-year in 2024, and are expected to continue growing by 60% in 2025, with a compound annual growth rate exceeding 60% by 2029.
